Tessa's blog with hot tips for marketing success

Marketing advice for small businesses, start-ups, events, charities and the creative sector. Tessa Webb MCIM (Chartered Marketer) is an Associate Lecturer at UWE.

I have learnt so much over the last year. I have been busy writing marketing plans. I believe that creative graduates need to be equipped with enterprise skills, including the ability to plan.

Seeding is on my mind. As I was sowing carrot seed into my allotment at the weekend, I was reminded about a marketing seminar I attended years ago. Seeding is a thing that marketers do and that all small business owners ought to do as well. You need to sow the seed of your business.

We need creative people more than ever in this age of austerity. Itís the artists, designers, makers, musicians, performers, potters, sculptors, film makers and writers who have the power to get us through these bleak times - not just through their creations, but also their ability to generate ideas....
